Install Lightsage MCP in Hermes

Hermes can connect to streamable HTTP MCP servers from its MCP server configuration. Use this guide to connect Hermes to the hosted Lightsage MCP endpoint.

Get your Lightsage API key

Open the Lightsage dashboard, copy your API key, and store it as LIGHTSAGE_API_KEY:

export LIGHTSAGE_API_KEY="ls_cli_your_api_key"

Do not put your API key in shared project config, screenshots, issue reports, or public repositories.

Add Lightsage MCP to Hermes

Add Lightsage MCP to your Hermes MCP configuration:

  lightsage:
    url: https://mcp.lightsage.com/mcp
    headers:
      X-Lightsage-Api-Key: ${LIGHTSAGE_API_KEY}
    tools:
      resources: false
      prompts: false

Hermes identifies a remote MCP server by the presence of url. There is no separate transport field.

Reload MCP

Reload MCP after changing the config:

/reload-mcp

Then run a read-only prompt:
